Into the long weekend

US equity indexes closed rather mixed, SPX +8pts (0.2%) at 3674. Nasdaq comp' +1.4%. Dow -0.1%. The Transports settled -0.4%. R2K +0.8%.

Summary

US equities opened a little choppy, but the SPX turned negative, breaking a new cycle low of 3636. There was another swing upward, settling fractionally higher.

Volatility was ground lower into the long weekend, the VIX settling -5.5% to 31.13.
