US equity indexes closed broadly higher, SPX +34pts (0.9%) at 3991. Nasdaq comp' +1.4%. Dow +0.2%. The Transports settled +0.6%. R2K +1.5%.

Summary
With the PPI data coming in on the cooler side, equities jumped in pre-market, opening on a significantly positive note. The SPX printed a new cycle high of 4028. From there... considerable chop into the early afternoon.
Then....
Indexes spiraled, with the SPX turning fractionally negative. The late afternoon saw an almost equally strong rebound, settling +0.9% to 3991.
Volatility was mixed, the VIX seeing a (cash market) low of 23.42, spiking to 26.22, if cooling back to settle +3.4% to 24.54.
