Spooling down the printers

US equity indexes mostly closed on a positive note, SPX +29pts (0.6%) at 4660. Nasdaq comp' +0.3%. Dow +1.0%. The Transports settled -1.0%. R2K +1.8%

Summary

US equities opened in minor chop mode, and naturally saw a holding pattern into the 2pm press release from Print Central.

Powell - The CEO of Print Central


Not surprisingly, the fed announced a plan for QE taper. Effectively, $15bn less printing a month, starting from the current $120bn. 

The late afternoon saw a push upward, with the SPX breaking a new hist' high of 4663.

Volatility was subdued, the VIX settling -5.8% to 15.10.
