Summary
US equities opened broadly higher, with the SPX printing a new cycle high of 4541. However, the gains were shaky from the open, with the market cooling into the early afternoon to 4541. The late afternoon saw considerable minor chop, settling at 4515.
Volatility was ground lower into the long weekend, the VIX settling -3.5% to 13.09.
