US equity indexes mostly closed significantly lower, SPX -54pts (1.2%) at 4450. Nasdaq comp' -1.6%. Dow -0.8%. The Transports settled -0.2%. R2K -1.1%
SPX - daily
VIX - daily
Summary
US equities were fractionally higher for much of pre-market, but just before the open, the SPX turned to -17pts... partly due to spiking bond yields.
Equities slid across the day, the SPX printing 4447, and settling at 4450.
Volatility was very mixed, the VIX printing 12.68, but swinging very powerfully higher to 14.17, and cooling back to settle +7.6% to 13.79.
For a quadruple witching, it was far more bearish than could normally be expected.
