Summary
US equities opened moderately higher, but the gains were shaky from the start. The SPX swung from 4458 to 4398. There was a bounce to 4414, but renewed downside to settle at 4376.
Volatility was mixed, the VIX swinging from an early low of 15.59 to settle +7.6% to 17.20. Today's SPX candle was bearish engulfing, an appropriate mirror to the bearish engulfing candle in the VIX.
