US equity indexes closed on a weak note, SPX -19pts (0.4%) at 4499. Nasdaq comp' -0.8%. Dow -0.4%. The Transports settled -0.6%. R2K -0.6%

Summary
Equities opened broadly lower on a number of excuses, not least Moody's warning of individual bank downgrades. The SPX washed out to 4464, with a latter day recovery to settle at 4499.
Volatility spiked, the VIX printing 18.10, if cooling back to settle +1.4% to 15.99.
Wed' will be inclined to open positive, but I'm expecting another swing lower into Thurs/Friday.
