US equity indexes closed on a positive note, SPX +28pts (0.7%) at 3852. Nasdaq comp' +0.7%. Dow +0.4%. The Transports settled +1.7%. R2K +1.2%.

Summary
US equities opened moderately higher, but once again the gains were pretty shaky, with indexes turning negative to 3815. There was a secondary push upward to 3873, but even this was reversed in the afternoon to 3827, with a late day mini ramp to settle at 3852.
Volatility was ground lower, the VIX settling -3.9% to 22.01.
