Summary
US equities opened moderately higher, but the gains were shaky from the start, and it didn't take long for the Nasdaq to turn red, with the rest of the indexes duly following. The afternoon saw increasing weakness, the SPX printing 3794, but recovering to settle moderately lower at 3824.
Volatility picked up, although much of today's gain was due to it being a new week, the VIX settling +5.7% to 22.90.
