US equity indexes closed a little mixed, SPX +13pts (0.3%) at 4726. Nasdaq comp' +0.2%. Dow +0.1%. The Transports settled -0.1%. R2K -0.8%.

Summary
Equities opened on a positive note, which was somewhat impressive considering the CPI data. The gains were shaky though, with indexes all turning negative by late morning.
The afternoon saw considerable chop, if cooling back a little.
Volatility cooled back, the VIX settling -4.3% to 17.62. Tomorrow is a Thursday, and that will inherently favour the equity bears. It'd sure help if there was some sporadic spooky news.
