Here we go again

US equity indexes mostly closed on a positive note, SPX +30pts (0.6%) at 4796. Nasdaq comp'+1.2%. Dow +0.7%. The Transports settled -1.1%. R2K +1.3%

Summary

US equities opened on a positive note, but the gains were shaky from the start, with most indexes turning red... if only fractionally. There was a secondary push upward into the late afternoon.

Meanwhile...


For many... 2022 is going to be little different than 2021... as the political elite - not least Ms. Pelosi, are more focused on the financial markets, than the populace for which they were supposedly meant to represent.

The late afternoon saw considerable chop, if mostly leaning on the positive side, for what was a positive start to the year. Volatility was subdued, the VIX settling -3.6% to 16.60.
