US equity indexes closed very mixed, SPX -3pts (0.1%) at 4793. Nasdaq comp' -1.3%. Dow +0.6%. The Transports settled +1.7%. R2K -0.15%.

Summary
US equities opened on a positive note, with the SPX breaking a new hist' high of 4818. From there though, gains were fully eroded to 4774. The late afternoon saw a recovery to settle fractionally weak. With a new historic high, it has to be seen as a net bullish day.
Volatility picked up... if only a little, the VIX settling +1.9% to 16.91.
