US equity indexes closed moderately mixed, SPX +3pts (0.1%) at 4662. Nasdaq comp' +0.6%. Dow -0.6%. The Transports settled -0.6%. R2K +0.1%.

Summary
US equities opened on a weak note, and whilst there was an opening reversal, that was itself reversed, with the SPX seeing choppy cooling into the mid afternoon. The late afternoon saw a recovery, with a few indexes turning net higher.
Volatility was mixed, the VIX printing 22.07, but settling -5.5% to 19.19, as the mainstream calmed down, ahead of the long weekend.
