US equity indexes closed rather mixed, SPX +12pts (0.2%) at 5433. Nasdaq comp' +0.3%. Dow -0.2%. The Transports settled -1.1%. R2K -0.9%

Summary
US equities opened a little higher on the PPI data, but the gains were shaky from the start. Whilst the Nasdaq comp' did break a new hist' high, the SPX stalled from 5441, and then saw choppy cooling to 5402. The afternoon saw a little recovery to settle marginally higher at 5433.
Volatility was subdued, the VIX settling -0.8% to 11.94.
