Summary
US equities opened in minor chop mode. All the bears could manage was 5420, before leaning back upward to break a new hist' high of 5488, and settling at 5473. Today's new high was especially impressive considering what are holiday trading conditions.
Volatility was subdued, the VIX settling +0.7% to 12.75
