Rome continues to burn

US equity indexes closed rather mixed, SPX -0.2pts (0.0%) at 4108. Nasdaq comp' -0.4%. Dow +0.3%. The Transports settled +1.1%. R2K +0.8%.

Summary

US equities opened in minor chop mode, if leaning upward into the mid afternoon. The closing hour saw some cooling, as some quietly excited ahead of CPI-Wednesday.

Volatility was a little mixed, the VIX printing 18.56, if settling +0.7% to 19.10.

Few want to hear about it... not least the 'partisan hacks', or the 'buy buy buy' cheerleaders of clown finance TV. According to them... 'everything will be fine', but you know it won't. Its only going to get far... far worse.
