US equity indexes mostly closed on a weak note, SPX -8pts (0.2%) at 4137. Nasdaq comp' -0.3%. Dow -0.4%. The Transports settled +0.4%. R2K -0.9%.

Summary
US equities opened a little choppy, but the SPX leaned upward to print a new multi-week high of 4163. From there.. a downside reversal to 4113, a recovery to settle at 4137.
Volatility was ground lower into the weekend, the VIX settling -4.1% to 17.07.
