SPX - daily

VIX - daily

Summary

The day began in pre-market, with the latest inflation data...

The Santelli of CNBC

The SPX hyped spiked to +140pts or so... if cooling back to open higher by around +100pts.

There was an early push to 4100, but then a very powerful reversal, with the SPX cooling to almost fully fill the opening gap to 3993. From there... choppy upside, settling moderately higher.

Volatility was knocked lower, the VIX printing 21.46, if recovering to 23.90, and settling -9.8% to 22.55.

For those that sold in early morning, today's inflation data was an early Christmas present. However, today's daily candles are largely black, and they bode s/t bearish into the FOMC, with rate hike seven of 50bps to 4.25-4.50%
