Mr Market is tired

US equity indexes closed a little mixed, SPX -5pts (0.1%) at 4140. Nasdaq comp' -0.1%. Dow +0.1%. The Transports settled +0.3%. R2K +1.1%.

SPX - daily

VIX - daily

Summary

US equities opened on a positive note, with the SPX pushing upward to print a new cycle high of 4186, the highest since early May. The late morning saw gains erode, with some indexes turning negative... if only moderately. The afternoon saw considerable chop.

Volatility was subdued, the VIX settling +0.7% to 21.29.

Mr Market is distinctly tired ahead of the Wed'/Thurs' CPI and PPI data. Some cooling to around 4000 isn't bold. Personally, I want to see 3951/21, before seeing renewed upside.
