June swoon?

US equity indexes closed broadly higher, SPX +41pts (1.0%) at 4221. Nasdaq comp' +1.3%. Dow +0.5%. The Transports settled +1.2%. R2K +1.1%.

SPX - daily

VIX - daily

Summary

US equities opened in minor chop mode. There was brief cooling to 4171, but then a sustained upward push into the afternoon to 4232, and settling at 4221.

Volatility was ground lower, the VIX settling -12.8% to 15.65.

Whilst June has begun on a distinctly positive note, the market feels increasingly tired. I'm open to the 4300s, but at some point we're very likely going to see a test of the 200dma, and that is currently 3975. A key excuse might be a spike in bond yields.
