US equity indexes mostly closed significantly higher, SPX +47pts (1.3%) at 3694. Nasdaq comp' +1.2%. Dow +1.1%. The Transports settled +0.8%.

Summary
US equities opened on a positive note, and whilst the initial gains were a little shaky, the market battled upward into the late afternoon.
Meanwhile...

With higher equities, volatility naturally melted lower, the VIX settling -7.4% to 22.89.
