Volatility was ground lower, the VIX settling -9.1% to 19.90, a notable close under the key 20 threshold.

US equity indexes mostly closed very significantly higher, SPX +95pts (2.1%) at 4686. Nasdaq comp' +3.0%. Dow +1.4%. The Transports settled +0.2%. R2K +2.3%

Summary

US equities opened significantly higher, and built rather powerful gains into the early afternoon, with the SPX printing 4694... some 199pts above the Friday closing hour low. The late afternoon saw a little cooling, but that still made for a second day of broad gains.

Volatility was naturally ground lower, the VIX settling -19.5% to 21.89.

US equities began the week on a positive note, and built very significant gains into the afternoon.

Meanwhile...

Indeed, those EVs sure need a small truck load of copper!

Mid/long term implications for the related copper miners, not least FCX, SCCO, TECK, and VALE.

The late afternoon saw a little cooling, but that still made for broad gains. Volatility was ground lower, the VIX settling -11.4% to 27.18. My only concern is this Friday's CPI data.
