US equity indexes closed on a weak note, SPX -36pts (0.5%) at 5650. Nasdaq comp' -0.7%. Dow -0.2%. The Transports settled -0.5%. R2K -0.8%

Summary
Many markets - not least the UK, remained CLOSED, but US equities opened broadly lower... on yet more tariff chatter. However, all the bears could manage was 5634. There was a bounce to 5683, and settling moderately lower at 5650.
Volatility was a little mixed, the VIX printing an early high of 24.36, cooling to 22.81, and settling +4.2% at 23.64.
