US equity indexes closed rather mixed, SPX +11pts (0.3%) at 3966. Nasdaq comp' -0.3%. Dow +0.5%. The Transports settled +0.4%. R2K -1.1%.

Summary
US equities opened broadly lower, with the SPX printing a new cycle low of 3903. There was a latter day recovery, although price action remained very twitchy. The s/t cyclical setup favours the bulls into, and a few days beyond the long weekend.
Volatility was mixed, the VIX printing 27.45, if cooling back to settle -1.2% to 25.56.
