US equity indexes mostly closed on a positive note, sp +17pts (0.5%) at 3401. Nasdaq comp' +1.2%. Dow u/c. The Transports settled +0.8%.

US equities opened on a broadly positive note, with the SPX battling to 3419 in the opening 15minutes.

The first episode of season two of the Mandalorian will air Oct'30th on Disney+, and it will make for an especially pleasing distraction from the mass hysteria of the US election... and some seven weeks beyond.

It was indeed just another day in the twilight zone...


The afternoon saw the 'Apple event', but many were frustrated there was no new iPhone. The market had already been leaning weak before 1pm, and the late afternoon saw some moderate cooling to 3389, with a mini recovery into the close to 3402.

Volatility was itself subdued ahead of the fed, the VIX settling -1.0% at 25.59. Whilst the fed can't be expected to announce anything of significance, Wednesday afternoon will threaten some drama.
