US equity indexes closed on a broadly positive note, SPX +25pts (0.6%) at 3968. Nasdaq comp' +1.0%. Dow +0.5%. The Transports settled +0.6%.

US equities opened in minor chop mode, and remained that way into the early afternoon.

The late afternoon saw a distinct swing upward, with most of the main indexes breaking new historic highs.

Volatility was subdued, the VIX settling -3.2% to 20.03, reflective of a very comfortable mainstream.
