Midweek fedspeak

US equity indexes closed on a positive note, SPX +11pts (0.3%) at 3974. Nasdaq comp' +0.4%. Dow +0.6%. The Transports settled +1.0%.

SPX - daily5

VIX - daily3

Summary

US equities opened moderately weak, with the SPX cooling to 3935.

The afternoon saw the fed announce.... nothing of consequence, just the usual nonsense fedspeak. The closing hour saw the SPX break a new historic high of 3983, making it just another day for bulls.

With the fed out of the way, the VIX was ground lower, settling -2.8% to 19.23, the lowest close since Feb'21st 2020... before the societal madness... before the dark times.
