Inflating into the weekend

SPX - daily5

VIX - daily3

Summary

With CPI coming in broadly inline, US equities opened on a positive note. The gains were shaky though, with some indexes turning red. There was a secondary push upward into the late afternoon, as there is now a clear road into 2022.

With the last big econ-data of the year out of the way, the VIX was ground lower, settling -13.4% to 18.69. The weekly settlement under the key 20 threshold is significant.
